I am a voracious reader. There are times I can get into a groove and read 2 or 3 books a day. Not short stories. Full books. I’m a speed reader. Depending on if the book is a seriously hard read or an entertaining read I can go through it like a hot knife through butter. Granted, Kindle books have made me take note of the words a little longer. I can’t skim as fast as I use to. If for some reason you want to contact me you can get me at stephelaine (at) gmail (dot) com or you can follow me on twitter and message me that way.
So, here I am, finally putting my skill to work. I won’t be making money at it. I will be getting a sense of accomplishment. That’s important to me, especially right now. You see, I’m also a stay-at-home-mom. I’ve been out of the work force for almost 5 years now. Now my kiddo is going to school and I’ll be left with time on my hands. Plenty of time to do writing, my first love. I never had the guts to do that novel I always told the HS pals I’d write, but at least I can write about what I read now.
I’m married to a man who spoils me by giving me this amount of time. Thank you sweetheart. You’re the only Hot fireman I need. I have two children, a son who is five and a daughter who is 14. She’s helping me understand even more of the YA fiction I read. I have two Shar-peis, Tucker and Savannah, and currently I have 21 chickens. I like fresh home grown eggs.
About my blogging purpose and disclaimer
I will be reading books and reviewing them. I’ve never done official reviewing so basically this is for my benefit, to try to hone my skills for writing a good review. I do want to start putting good, well thought out reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and Shelfari so the Indi authors I read have some good feedback. I so often want to say something about the books I read, mostly good, but shy away because I think I’d sound stupid. Well, here I am. My own place to write my stuff. People, I’ll write it and if you don’t like it you don’t have to read it.
I will be reviewing books that I read simply because I decided to read it, not because anyone influenced me to, gave me a book, or any other reason. I personally buy every book I review. Most likely I will have gotten that book free as an eBook promotion, since Amazon so often has them on their Top 100 free eBook list. Sometimes I even buy a book as soon as it’s released. I’m impatient that way. If I read it right away I’ll review it. If, for some reason, I got a book in a different promotion, a contest I entered, or any other way, I’ll mention it. It has happened occasionally.
