*Bitter Demons – Book 3, 4.5 stars
So far, life in Peachville has been tough for Harper Madison. She’s survived attacks on her life, learned how to control her magic, and met the most gorgeous boy – who also happens to be a demon. After her latest stunt at Brighton Hospital, the Order of Shadows is determined to tighten their control on her life.
When a future Prima from a nearby demon gate comes to town, she and Harper decide to use magic to switch places at a party. All Harper wants it to have a little fun.
But the night will end in blood.
And Harper will find out the attack was meant for her…
Harper finally decided to tell the adults that she knows about her heritage, and that she is the Prima Futura so they may as well let her in on some of their secrets. But the Order is based on secrets so it’s never going to come clean of everything. Still, they gave her some things to go on.
Harper was also put on probation because of her behavior in the last book, including she and Jackson were not allowed to be together.
The only good thing was another Order coming visiting so she would get to see what being a Prima was all about. When they actually arrived she had a chance to meet two, one of which was likable. The Prima she liked did a little switcharoo with her, causing a whole lot of problems when she ended up missing. The missing girl eventually was found and saved, but not without consequences. Harper found out that the hit on the Prima was really meant for her. There were more people there after that to help figure out who might be gunning for Harper so Harper had help this time.
I love the way the magic is getting used more here. Harper is finally getting to learn more of it. The old biddies in the town have nothing to say about it because outside people have been brought in due to the investigation. I love the fact that there are more questions being answered. I really love the introduction of a whole new world of other covens and the possibility of Harper going to other places. Finally, Jackson is just cool.
Finally, I was reading the story lines where I refuse to get up and take a bathroom break until the next chapter. That’s what I’m talkin’ about! When I get interested so much that I’ll be uncomfortable and really not even notice it, something’s got to be good. This was the first book I paid $2.99 for. I read the first two books in one evening. Around midnight I knew I was going to buy the others so I shelled out the money for the other three and read them over night. I do not regret losing my sleep, or paying that money. It was all well worth it. They are all that good.
Storyline, concept, grammar, punctuation, fluidity, freakishness, icky characters, and plain mean girls and boys are all good in my opinion. Add mean adults and portals.
